He later attended medical school at Emory University and completed four years of anesthesiology residency training at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), one of the nation’s leading anesthesia training programs.

After completing residency, Dr. Wender spent five years at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, California, providing hospital and outpatient anesthesia care along with pain management services. After returning to the Bay Area, he served as an assistant clinical professor of anesthesia and perioperative medicine at UCSF and worked as a staff anesthesiologist at San Francisco General Hospital.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wender has guided more than 10,000 patients through anesthesia, pain management, and ketamine infusion treatments.
